The direct primary care model - DPC, means you pay a monthly fee to gain access to the services of a doctor. The contract fee structure can enable physicians to spend more time with their patients, both in face-to-face visits, and through telephonic or electronic communication, since doctors are not bound by insurance restrictions. We believe that health insurance, as with home or automobile insurance, should be thought of as something you want to avoid using, keep it only for times of accident or crisis. Primary care (the direct primary care service) should be used regularly and frequently to strive to prevent disease and obtain wellness.

We believe that patients should be able to make decisions together with their doctors and choose between prescription medications and natural treatments depending on the values and circumstances of each individual patient.

Advantages for Patients :

  • Knowing ahead of time exactly how much your primary health care will cost.

  • Doctors have smaller patient panels, meaning we are not forced by a big healthcare company to care for too many patients in order to generate big profits for the company.  Thus we have more time  to listen to you and focus on knowing you better and  on your individual health needs.

  • Extended appointment availability, you will be able to see your doctor much faster than with conventional insurance based primary care.

  • Unrushed face time with your doctor, as well as the freedom to discuss more than one health issue during a single appointment. We will take as long as it takes to provide meaningful care to  your satisfaction.

  • Telemedicine consultations via voice, video conferencing, and SMS text.

  • We negotiate competitive rates for lab tests that you may need (the membership does not include free of charge lab tests).

  • Our DPC members also receive significant discounts and preferential scheduling on all other services and procedures offered at CH Medical.

The above represent only a brief description of features of DPC (direct primary care – subscription model ).  Depending on your individual circumstances and health needs DPC may or may not be a good option for you. Please come see us for a free consultation to discuss DPC options for you in particular.

Limitations of DPC

DPC completely eliminates third-party insurers from the primary health care equation, and many patients view this as a welcome change. However, it is important to keep in mind that a DPC doctor only provides primary health care services. Therefore, as a DPC member, you are still encouraged to carry health insurance to cover the costs of life-threatening emergencies, trauma, hospitalizations, and specialist care for complex illnesses and injuries, obstetrics, surgery etc. We recommend that you protect yourself against the cost of outside services, catastrophic illnesses. Complementing our primary care program with an appropriate low-premium, high-deductible insurance plan could actually reduce your overall health care costs.
